Our Approach
When you choose HC Remodel & Design for a home renovation in Omaha, you can expect a team that works hard on the front end to get your project completed in a timely manner. Here's a quick overview of what to expect step-by-step.
INITIAL PHONE CALL
Are you ready to get started? We begin every renovation with a 10-15 minute phone conversation. Please give us a call at (402)403-2378 during normal business hours (8am-3pm weekdays). Or, you can tell us about your renovation goals on the form at the bottom of this page, and we will call you back within 2 business days.

During that phone conversation, you can expect to chat with Danielle or Morgan about your renovation and about what you are looking for in a Design-Build Firm.
IN-HOME APPOINTMENT
After the initial phone conversation, we share your project with Gary, HC Remodel & Design’s Owner, and Lead Designer, Lisa.

What can you expect at this appointment for a home renovation in Omaha? Gary and Lisa will meet with you and listen to your dreams for your space and any pain-points you are experiencing. They will also share more about our process and our company at this appointment. At this meeting, Gary and Lisa will give a rough ballpark estimate. If the scope of the project is more complex, more research may be needed before giving you that rough ballpark number.
DESIGN AGREEMENT
The Design Agreement is the next step in our process. A Design Agreement is our contract for design and estimating services. We agree to work with you to create a design and then do a detailed bid of that design. We charge a 5% fee for these services based on the ballpark estimate.
MEASUREMENT APPOINTMENT
Next we will schedule an appointment to measure your space, take pictures, and establish a thorough plan that serves as the cornerstone for your home design.
DESIGN PRESENTATION
Creating a design you love started at the first phone conversation–we have been listening to you throughout the entire process. After we measure, we create 3D drawings that we hope will help you envision your space transformed.

Lisa will present drawings, 3D pictures, and a virtual tour of your remodel at the Design Presentation. This appointment is our favorite part of this process! It is so much fun to show you the vision for your new space! We will listen to your feedback and together we will decide if we need to rework the design or move forward for bidding. We will work with you until we have a design you love!
SUBCONTRACTOR BIDDING
We care about the details, which is why we use the best subcontractors in the Omaha area. We choose to use specialty services for different parts of each job because we want it to be done to the highest standard.

In order for us to get an accurate estimate, Gary and Lisa spend a morning giving our subcontractors a rundown of the renovation in your home.
FIRM PRICE PROPOSAL
The final meeting in our design process is the Firm Price Proposal meeting. You can expect a thorough meeting with Gary and Lisa going over the financial details of your project.
Our estimates are extremely accurate and are historically within 1% of the final price paid for our services, dependent upon additional work added by clients during the project. When these details are all agreed upon, we are ready to move to the building phase!
POST PROPOSAL AGREEMENT
SELECTIONS APPOINTMENT
On to the Build Phase!!! The selection process begins the build phase of your project.

Within your project proposal are a list of selection items which are given allowances. Normally, items like tile, fixtures, cabinets, flooring, and countertops are on this list. The number of appointments and locations for these appointments depends on the scope of the project and your personal preference. Gary and Lisa will discuss selections with you, helping you through the process so you can feel empowered to make informed decisions.
SELECTION ORDERING
Once selections have been made we begin ordering! Not to worry, we handle everything from finding product discounts and competitive pricing, to coordinating deliveries, so you don't have to do a thing!

Lead times for key items like cabinets or countertop often determine when a job can start. It is our top priority to handle the ordering right away to ensure little to no delays once our crew is onsite.
PROJECT MANAGER HAND-OFF
Gary and our Project Manager, Dan, will meet with you, walk through your space, and sit down to discuss details like start and stop time, pets, dumpster placement and more.

We will also normally have a start date scheduled by the time this meeting takes place.
DEMO DAY
Demo Day is here! This is when you meet the rest of our team, Will and Kyle. When starting the demolition phase, our top priority is to protect your home with plastic and a BuildClean HEPA air filtration system in the remodel area. The dumpster has already arrived. You have already downloaded our easy project management app. We are ready to get this party started!
PROJECT CELEBRATION
It's been a roller coaster but before you know it, your space is completed and our final step is to walk through your newly remodeled space to celebrate its completion with you! We love seeing your excitement at this final meeting!
